The idea for Links of Love came to me when a childhood friend was diagnosed with breast cancer, and she faced months of radiation and chemotherapy, as well as reconstructive surgery. Living over 100 miles away, I felt helpless, unable to prepare a meal for her family or drop by for a visit. While I wanted my friend to feel my support throughout her ordeal with breast cancer, I knew that true hope rested in a support gift she would receive from of a vast network of friends. Together, we could all offer her the courage and strength she needed to endure the physical and emotional trauma ahead.

Thinking that I would send her a breast cancer bracelet, I began searching for something unique. I quickly discovered that most bracelets looked exactly alike. Having collected silver charms all of my life, I began to wonder. What if I sent her a charm bracelet anonymously and then organized a special plan where her family and friends, neighbors and coworkers would send her a charm that had special meaning? That, to me, seemed the perfect way to put my dear friend in the center of a circle of people who wanted to support her with a lasting expression of their love.

That's when Links of Love was born.
